Searching for Women

Gabe's mother died 3 days ago, but it's a bigger deal than it seems. Where he lives, his mother was the last woman. Without woman no more children will exist. Gabe is the only one that decided to go look for women(he's 8). The King gave him supplies. A few coins and jewels, a pocketknife, poison, water and a rope. He finds an island where a 7 year old is stranded. Apparently they lost all their men and went on a ship to find men. They fall in love along the way. Will he find more women? A little girl named Minli is a happy little girl in Fruitless Mountain. Nobody else is as cheerful as her because of Ba's stories. Ma was very sad about their fortune and wasn't interested in any of Ba's stories. Minli decides to ask the old man of the moon how to change their fortune. A talking goldfish tells her the way to the old man of the moon. She meets a dragon who she names Dragon. Dragon goes to the old man of the moon to ask it how to fly. Many legendary Chinese stories fill this story.

Book Review: Captain Nobody

Captain Nobody is a 4 1/2 star book. It is realistic fiction.

A boy named Chris is in a coma, His younger brother Newt has to face it. On Halloween, His friends help him make a costume of a made up superhero and then they had to make up a name when they asked him what the initials stood for That's where Captain Nobody began.

Strangely, when Newt puts on his costume he doesn't feel sad and he even saves lives!

This is a Scholastic book called Plain Kate. Plain Kate is a carver. She is also an orphan. In her time people believes in witches and only black magic. They believed that a knife had powers. Her town planned to burn her and she decided to run away. She found this man that seemed magical and he took away her shadow in exchange for supplies that she needed to survive. He also made her cat be able to talk. She ends up being a Roamer and there are lots of traditions. Will they try to hurt her? Why does the man want a shadow? Read and find out!

Outbreaks of typhoid have spread and someone makes the food at each and every new job she gets. It's proved that this woman must be a carrier.
